8:10 p.m. ET: Los Angeles Angels (6-5) at Houston Astros (6-4)
Odds: Angels +130 / Astros -150
Over/Under: 8 -110
Framber Valdez (1-0, 0.93 ERA) will make his third start of the season for Houston after he walked 5 batters and allowed 1 run and 2 hits over 3 innings in a 3-2 Astros loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Valdez was 11-6 with a 3.14 ERA in 2021 and in his career he is 7-3 with a 3.60 ERA in 12 career games against the Angels. The Angels are going with Patrick Sandoval (0-0, 0.00 ERA) who pitched 4 innings in his first start of the season, allowing 3 hits and 1 unearned run while walking 3 and striking out 6 in the Angels’ 4-3 win over the Marlins. Sandoval is 0-3 with a 9.77 ERA in 5 career games against the Astros. The Angels will still be without Trout but are expected to get Rendon back while Altuve is likely to miss for the Astros. Regardless, Framber Valdez is significantly better than Patrick Sandoval, who had a 10.80 ERA last year against the Astros and Valdez was 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA against the Angels in 2021. Look for the Astros bats to stay hot and keep it rolling in this one.

In Gibson’s only other appearance against the Rockies, he allowed two runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings and got the win for the Rangers. Freeland has struggled this season with a double-digit ERA and opposing batters are hitting .350 against him. Freeland has a 0-2 record with a 10.00 ERA over 9.0 innings of work. He’s allowed 14 hits and four walks. Freeland has a 1-1 record with a 4.50 ERA in 4 career starts against the Phillies. The Phillies have been inconsistent offensively but they hit lefties well. Philadelphia is the 6th best offense against LHP with a .279 average and they’re ranked third in OBP at .376. Take the Phillies to get back on track tonight.

9:40 p.m. ET: Texas Rangers (2-7) at Seattle Mariners (5-5)
Odds: Rangers +130 / Mariners -140
Over/Under: 7.5 -115/-105
The Rangers’ Gray was placed on the 10-day injured list after his first game against Toronto because of a blister on his finger and is scheduled to make his return tonight against the Mariners. Gray is 1-0 with a 2.38 ERA in two career starts against the Marlins. Seattle will start its own free-agent signee in left-hander Robbie Ray (1-1, 4.73). Ray is 3-1 with a 4.24 ERA in six career starts against Texas. Ray took the loss in his last outing against the White Sox, giving up 6 runs in 6 1/3 innings. The Mariners will be without outfielder Mitch Haniger, who leads the team with three home runs and was placed on the COVID list. The Rangers have had a tough stretch of games but getting Monday off is what this team needed, especially the bullpen. This is a game in which the Mariners are getting over 70% of the tickets but we have sharp action coming in on the Rangers causing reverse line movement. Look for the Rangers to pull off the upset in this one.
