This line opened with Cincinnati listed as a 6.5-point home favorite. The Sharps and the Public are all over the Bengals moving the line up from -6.5 to -7.5. Brad Allen, the head official, has historically favored home teams (58-48 ATS, 55-percent). Both teams are 2-1 to the under so far this season. The Jaguars (0-3 SU, 0-3 ATS) have lost and failed to cover every game this season, most recently falling to the Cardinals 31-19 last week, failing to cover as 8-point home dogs. The Bengals (2-1 SU, 2-1 ATS) have played well through three games and upset the Steelers 24-10, winning outright as 2.5-point road dogs. These teams both average about the same total yards on offense but the difference is on defense, where the Jags are giving up 427 yards while the Bengals are allowing just 343. The Bengals have been a favorite of 7.5 points just 27 times since the start of the 2003 NFL season, going 12-14-1 (46.2%) against the spread (ATS) in those games. With everyone taking the Bengals, the contrarian play is probable as we know the books don’t give away free money. Look for the Jaguars to cover the spread in this one.
