8:20 p.m. ET: Carolina Panthers (2-0) at Houston Texans (1-1)
Spread: Panthers -8
Over/Under: 43
The Texans are 1-1 and quarterback changes are happening again due to Tyrod Taylor’s injury. Rookie Davis Mills gets the start tonight. The Panthers have beat the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints. The defense has set the tone for the Panthers. Carolina leads the NFL with 10 sacks and now runs into an inexperienced Houston quarterback. For Carolina’s offense, a real test could come with the durability of McCaffrey. He played in only 3 games last season because of injuries and he had 30 touches in the first game and 29 more in Week 2, said he should be fine after leaving Sunday’s game for a stretch with what was described as cramping. The Panthers lead the all-time series with Houston, 3-2. The public is pounding the Panthers driving the lineup but it is starting to come back down to the opening number at some books indicating the Sharps are jumping on the Texans. Look for the Texans who may lose but should be able to pull off a cover in a low-scoring game.
